I’m one of those who thoroughly enjoyed the B rated horror game Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad. It virtually had everything that a male (and some female) gamers could want. Scantly clad woman wielding various swords while fighting zombies. The game does have some dated graphics, and the game play itself is relatively simple. Enough where some gamers could feel a level of button mashing repetition.
But according to the recent announcement, Onechanbara Z: Kagura will not be revisiting known characters Aya, Saki and Anna.. Instead we will be introduced to a pair of vampire sisters. Will they be fighting zombies? humans? other vampires? Unfortunately no further details have been released.
It would be interesting to see if in fact Onechanbara skips the use of zombies this time around. Considering that in the past few years the living impaired have been a hot commodity.. Skirting a very fine line of over saturation. While I hope they keep the old formula, a varation might not be a bad thing.
Currently there has been no word if there is a US release. But with the recent release of Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon, and the fan reactions (or fan reviews from metacritic).. My magic 8 ball says “Most Likely”.
